A multi-disciplined professional services consultancy.
Strategic Consultancy: Establish the Technology Vision for the programme and the next 3 to 5 years of occupation and operations. Working closely with CTOs, CIOs and IT Directors we establish the Strategy for delivering the Vision including project planning, vendor independent procurement, project controls and budget forecasting.
Programme Management: We manage multiple projects in a coordinated manner, identifying interdependencies and efficiencies between projects. We are proactive in stakeholder management, communications and integration with business as usual.
Project Management: We manage the delivery of technology within large capital programmes and complex client environments.
Smart Buildings: Integrating AV, Building Services, IT and the Internet of Things (IoT) to improve or optimise the workplace, increase asset reliability and reduce energy use.
Design Services: Complete design services for all technology elements: Unified Communications, Audio Visual, Networks, Security and Structured Cabling.
Data Analytics: Utilising existing silo data or new sensor driven data to provide valuable Operational insights within the Real Estate portfolio. Replacing anecdotal information with data driven fact.
Cost Management: Production of Capex and Opex budgets. Technology should not be budgeted for on a gross cost/sq.m as there are multiple factors affecting project spend e.g. procurement route, resiliency requirements, internal IT delivery, IT Risk and Security policies and the overall scale of a new technology roll out.
Penetration Testing: Smart Buildings, agile and collaborative working can leave organisations vulnerable to breaches. System examinations find these vulnerabilities and make systems safe.
SOME OF THE THINGS WE'VE ACHIEVED
Our team are great at what they do, but also very modest about it.
But here are a few of our achievements:
- Smart Buildings: Integration of existing IT, AV and Building Services data to provide real-time Operational insight, resulting in Revenue reduction and better workplace optimisation.
- Alternative procurement strategy reducing Capital spend by 20%, resulting in a £3.8m saving.
- Developed new standards documentation to provide consistent delivery of technology across the estate whilst enhancing user adoption.
- Restructured a client's incumbent IT provider's delivery model resulting in a 6% year on year saving revenue.
- Reduced the overall space requirements for a new lease by reducing the number of meeting rooms required. Deployed an interactive room booking solution to show meeting room utilisation was lower than perceived.
- Working closely with the Department's Business Transformation Team we established a detailed understanding of their digital working practices from a strategic and operational perspective. Successfully rolled out new technologies to achieve the flexible working Vision.
- In 2012, successfully delivered The London Olympic's International Broadcast Centre on time, despite a fourfold scope increase.
- Developed and deployed a new Unified Communications strategy reducing UK travel by 15% and significantly reducing the Carbon Footprint.
- Successfully completed a physical audit and interrogation of bank and cash handling electronic security solutions across 3 continents in advance of developing a strategy for consolidating and streamlining to provide better efficiencies.
- Recovered a failing fit out and relocation project which was behind schedule and over budget. Successfully brought budget back in line with no increase in project duration.
- Reviewed and identified early security concerns within a new converged network design. Resulting is a cost effective and more secure redesign.
Managed the fit out and relocation of a European office headquarters, based in London. Data centre relocation without a break in service. A late change required alteration to the space to allow for a financial clearinghouse to be integrated into the overall design.
The Challenge
Technology has dramatically changed the way we work today and will continue to in the future.
Mobile working and collaboration allow for smarter working and better living environments. These new and innovative technologies can dramatically assist organisations enhance their business offer to their clients. But only if delivered properly, are secure and easy to use.
A Smart or Connected Building is no longer a market differentiator. Tenants expect it from Developers/ Landlords and employees expect it from their employers.
The delivery of converged systems during complex fit outs or new build projects needs to be considered as a whole. No longer can building services, audio visual or IT be seen as standalone entities, but one and the same, all leveraging the benefits of digital communication and data. Data that can be harvested and analysed, allowing for better efficiencies; financial (capital costs), spacial (revenue costs) or increased effective working (profit).
But with the increasing rise in cyber attacks, organisations are extremely wary of new IP based building systems which could expose their corporate infrastructure and data or leave them susceptible to cyber attacks, damaging their corporate reputation.
Squared Away have delivered converged networks for many clients and have over 20 years experience in delivering complex technology solutions. We see the needs of your business or project from both an IT and an Estates perspective. We can assist you in driving down the costs and risks associated with technology within the built environment.
